Founder & CEO Academy of Leonardo’s Apprentice

With four decades of hands-on classroom experience working with secondary students, my focus has never been rote instruction—it is awakening curiosity and agency. When students are given real tools to solve tangible problems, curiosity creates everything.

In 1994, Romero launched “Space Island,” a groundbreaking, student-directed online learning initiative that reached 2.3 million students and teachers across 40 countries. In 1996, the project was officially inducted into the Library of Congress as a historic milestone in digital education.

He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Instructional Design, a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, and California State Teaching Credentials in Computer Programming & System Design and Career Technical Education (CTE) for Media Arts & Technology.
