Thirty years of building online learning.
Not thirty slides
Designed, not recorded
Every course is built on instructional design, not a camera pointed at an expert.
Tested before release
Trialed with teenagers and working professionals, then revised until they finished.
Judgment, not tools
Tools change every year. Knowing how to think about them doesn’t.
Every enrollment funds The Academy of Leonardo’s Apprentice, a 501(c)(3) that puts engineering and science in high school students’ hands at no cost. See where your money goes.

The Courses
Course 1: Search Engines vs. Generative AI
This course introduces students to current artificial intelligence tools, focusing on how to prompt generative AI to create better results and workflows.
Course 2: AI and the Human Element
In this course, you’ll first examine and learn how humans create and develop bias and the real and harmful consequences of even unintentional bias—including messages from bestselling author and psychologist Dr. Jennifer Eberhardt.
Course 3: Data Collection and Bias
In this section, you will learn how data should be chosen, collected, and filtered for bias. You will also learn about the importance of available algorithm choices and how machines learn.
Course 4: AI Facial Recognition
In this lesson, we look beyond data collection to how it is collected, who collects it, and why.
Course 5: Emerging Technologies
Today, a part of your life may include regular technologies like smartphones, iPads, and computers. Now, think about the new and super cool stuff that’s just starting to become a big deal—that’s what we call “emerging technology.” Here, students get a peek at future technology and gadgets already on the horizon.
Course 6: Information Brokering
Information is a commodity—it can be bought, sold, and traded, and the most current information is rarely the most visible. This course takes students past the search bar into the collections professionals actually use. Two key skills decide every search: how well you ask and how well you understand where the answer lives.
Course 7: Cybersecurity
In the past, hackers were human; today, hackers are digital in the form of AI. This course covers what cybersecurity is, what is at stake, and whether you are at risk.
Course 8: Soft Skills—Critical Thinking
This course focuses on developing a key soft skill required by the STEM industry: critical thinking. As a future leader, you will be expected not to make the wrong decisions or to be compelled to make the wrong decisions by your team. A leader leads by example, and one of the tools you need to excel as a leader is critical thinking.
